Reflections: Memory

Part of the Reflections series on The Extra Mile
2

Reflections is a series of short, thoughtful studio-voiced pieces recorded during quieter moments behind the scenes of my work as a photographer, podcaster, and creative. These stories invite you to pause and consider the creative life, its challenges, its small victories, and the sometimes surprising connections between the personal and professional.

During July, I plan to release one edition, Monday through Thursday, on our Patreon, with Friday's edition being part of The Extra Mile show. A handful of editions will be repeated here on the Photowalk Substack.

Memory

On a recent photowalk, I met Mary and her husband, David. Mary lives with early-onset dementia and attends a Nature Memories Café, a place designed to spark connection and creativity through gentle, nature-based activity. We talked not just about memory loss, but about the memories that remain, and how a photograph might hold more than just nostalgia. I wrote this upon my return home from that meeting.
